Full Engine Rebuild Due To Crankshaft Failure
R&C were initially contacted to inspect an engine failure on a 70m yacht as an independent consultant, leading on from our findings and recommendations, R&C were then appointed as the project management team to oversee the complete strip down and then the rebuild of the Stbd main engine in situ.
This complex project not only covered the stripping down of the engine to its bare components, it included design and calculations to enable all large items to be transited through the stern of the vessel and then onto a fully designed landing platform that not only enabled quick removal of the parts but reduced risk of damaged and dramatically reduced the time in dry dock.
The engine was completely stripped of all its components and turned so the damaged crankshaft could be removed, the gear box of it was then removed and landed for full factory overhaul while the engine was being rebuilt. Once rebuilt the engine and gearbox were run in and trails completed with no issues or defects noted.
30m Sailing Yacht Full Refit
R&C were asked to project manage a 30m sailing yacht major refit of which included some major upgrades.
Works included; blasting and painting of underwater hull, changed out of both generators for an upgraded type, main engine removal and full overhaul due to damage, electrical cabling up-grades and main battery change ou, full mast and rigging removal for a 10 survey which included major carbon repairs to the boom, teak deck repairs and capping varnishing, full new sail manufacture and install and new custom shore power unit build and install.
